i photographed a march against violence, specifically gun violence, in north omaha yesterday evening. the rally was designed to bring together the residents of north omaha in reaction to gun violence, including the death of 6-year-old alazia alford on friday.
here, shameka penn marches in a peace demonstration from fontenelle park to 30th and ames streets. before the rally, i talked to shameka for a while. she has three young children and participated and worked as a spokewoman for the demonstration because gun violence is an everyday reality for her family.
