ray atkinson, of palm beach gardens and a survivor of a heart valve replacement, proudly displays a temporary heart tattoo before the 2006 greater west palm beach heart walk in downtown west palm beach. proceeds from the event, which included a 3.2-mile walk, benefit heart and heart disease research. an estimated 7,000 volunteers and participants helped raised more than $700,000 in palm beach county and $120,000 in the treasure coast.
